This is our 9th year! Please join us. We have some new activities this year and some popular comebacks from years past.
Date: Nov. 4, 2012
Time: 1 pm to 5 pm
Location: Corner of Delmar & Palo Pinto
Chili Cookoff: The highly competitve chili-cookoff is back. Bring your best chili and compete for the coveted Chili Pigs. (Each year, the winner from last year adds another pig to the pack and this year’s winner gets the entire set of pig-themed items to proudly display.) We will have stands, sterno, tip jars and fixins. Feel free to bring your own decorations, tip jar or fixins. We vote with dollars, and the winner is the entry that raises the most moeny for the ‘hood. If you want to enter, contact Darren Dattalo at email@example.com
Queso Cookoff: This year, we are replacing the Sugary Showdown with a Queso Cookoff. Blue Goose has agreed to sponsor the Queso Cookoff and is supplying chips and the prize. Bring you best queso, a serving utentsil and a tip jar. Decorations are welcome too. As with the chili, the winner is the entry that collects the most dollars. We will have extension cords for crockpots. If you want to enter, contact: Paul Hille at firstname.lastname@example.org or Doug Apgar at email@example.com
Artisans of the Addition: Also new this year, there will be a place for local artists to showcase their talents. Are you an expert baker? Do you make candles or jewelry? Do you paint or sculpt? If you want to show how creative you are, bring a sample down to display. Feel free to bring your marketing materials, but we are asking that items are not actually sold at the event. If you want to donate your item to the silent auction, awesome! If you have something to display, contact Michele Hille at firstname.lastname@example.org
Brewoff: If you make your own hooch and want to share, we will have a place set up for you. If you want to enter, contact Blane Balch at email@example.com
For the kids, we will have a bounce house, balloon artist, sidewalk chalk and hot dogs. All children activities are free.
We will have the wine pull again this year. We have some great bottles for the bargain price of $10 a pull. These make great holiday gifts!
The Silent Auction is also back. We have some great donations this year – our local restuarants and businesses have been very generous. Bring your checkbook and do some holiday shopping. We have lots of good stuff this year, including:
* A Taste of Greenville Ave, with gift certificates to several restuarants
* Dinner and a show at the Granada Theatre/Sundowner
* A will package
* Tickets to the new Perot Museum of Nature and Science
Our local chariacature artist, Ben Vincent, will spend some time with us doing his famous chariacatures.
We will also have Neighborhood Bingo again this year. The first to fill their card wins a prize. And this is a gat way to get to know your neighbors.
We also plan to have live music from some of our own residents and a very hip young band.
In short, we have a very fun afternoon of activities, prizes, socializing and fund raising. If it rains, we’ll just get wet. This event is our annual fund raiser, and we use the funds raised to do beautification projects, social events (like the Porch Crawl) and other neighborhood improvement projects. So please bring your dollars!
If you have questions, comments, donations or ideas, please let us know!
